What’s Involved in Alpha Readers?
1 hour fun and engaging lessons each week for children that promote a love of reading and writing. Lessons develop skills in reading, writing, spelling, phonics, comprehension, speaking and listening. Lessons take place after school hours on Mondays-Thursdays either in-person or online.
Lessons are designed to support learning at school and are planned in reference to the current NSW Syllabus documents which are used in all NSW schools. All teachers at the Alpha Readers program are fully trained and accredited Primary School Teachers with many years of classroom experience and a passion for working with children.
Group Lessons
Group lessons are the recommended format for English learning with Alpha Readers. Children are assessed at the commencement of the program by a professionally trained Primary School Teacher. This is a free service available to any child in Years k-6 in 2021. Appointments by booking only. Parents will then be recommended a suitable time after school for your child to learn with a group of up to five children of a similar age and ability. Learning in a small group helps to develop children’s academic skills and confidence.
Individual Lessons
The Alpha Readers program can be adapted for lessons with individual students. This is sometimes recommended for children requiring extra one-on-one support. Please see our page on pricing for more information about this option.
